Jennings & Associates was founded in 1997 in Wilmington, N.C. by Margaret Jennings. Margaret graduated in 1987 from Kent State University with a B.S. degree in Journalism. While working full time as public relations director, Margaret attended the evening program at Akron University Law School and graduated with a juris doctorate in 1995. After being admitted to the Ohio bar, she opened a general practice law firm in 1997 in Wilmington NC. She is also licensed to practice law in the state of New York and currently limits her practice to criminal, immigration and family law.

Her husband Valentine Cleary immigrated to America from Ireland in 1997 and runs a local historic restoration business in Wilmington, NC. “My husband was my first immigration client,” Margaret said. “Having personally been thourgh the immigration process, I understand the immigration experience not only from a legal but also an emotional experience.”

“I also understand how easily people can find themselves involved in the criminal justice system,” Margaret said. Jennings & Associates handles all levels of felony and misdemeanor criminal charges in district and superior court. Criminal charges for an immigrant can be extremely detrimental and require experienced legal counsel. Jennings & Associates has handled thousands of criminal matters.

Unfortunately divorce, separation and custody matters are also a common in our society and Jennings & Associates is dedicated to assisting families during these difficult times. Jennings & Associates is particularly sensitive to the stigmas facing someone going through a divorce and our first priority is to seek long-term rational solutions which focus on minimizing emotional harm to children and other family members.
